One of the most frequently asked questions by Czech Erasmus students is, "Is there an interview, what kind of questions are asked, is it in English, is it difficult?" There is NO interview for Erasmus in the Czech Republic. The process is entirely based on document submission.
In this blog, based on real student testimonials, I've explained step-by-step how the Erasmus long-term visa process works and clarified all the misconceptions surrounding the interview.
1ïžâŁ There are absolutely no interviews in Istanbul.
Most of the students applying are from Istanbul, and they all say the same thing: "The officer was Turkish, but he didn't conduct the interview."
â The process in Istanbul.
You're coming in
You are taking a number.
You are submitting the documents.
The staff member reports if there are any missing items.
You give your fingerprints.
You're going out
There are no questions or oral interviews at any stage.
2ïžâŁ No interviews are conducted in Ankara either.
Even though Ankara is a more meticulous center, there is no interview process .
Officer.
He checks the documents.
It scans your file.
He/She takes his/her passport
It takes fingerprints.
No oral interview will be conducted.
3ïžâŁ Why are there no interviews? Czech Republic has a different system.
Unlike other European countries, the Czech Republic does not require oral interviews for long-term visas . Here's why.
All decisions are made by the Czech Ministry of Internal Affairs.
The consulate is merely a document submission center.
The evaluation is based entirely on the submitted files.
Therefore, there is no need to speak with the applicant.
4ïžâŁ Only one question can be asked: âYou have missing documents.â
Sometimes the officer may ask a few questions to point out any missing documents. This is not an interview .
Example.
"Where is the original of this document?"
"This document lacks an apostille."
"Will your accommodation document arrive later?"
This is a purely technical discussion.
5ïžâŁ Language Issue: No English or Czech is spoken.
Throughout the process.
No questions are asked in English.
Czech is not accepted for communication.
You won't be interviewed.
Everything proceeds with the assistance of a Turkish-speaking officer .
â In short.
No interview + no foreign language requirement + no questions.
6ïžâŁ Outdated Information That Confuses Students
Some blogs contain this information from years ago: "Czech citizens may conduct interviews."
This information is very old and outdated. Current practice is that there are no interviews for long-term Erasmus visas.
7ïžâŁ Even without an interview, great attention is paid to the documents.
Although the absence of interviews simplifies the process, the Czech Republic is known for its rigorous documentation .
The most closely watched documents.
Accommodation document
Financial adequacy
Criminal record
Application form
Passport validity period
If the documents are correct, the process will proceed smoothly.
đŻ In short
For the Czech Republic Erasmus long-term visa, there is no interview , and the entire process involves simply submitting documents to a Turkish-speaking officer. No questions are asked in English or Czech. All you need to do before going to the consulate is ensure your documents are complete.
Therefore, the Czech Republic is one of the smoothest countries for students who are afraid of interviews.
