Required Documents:

Blocked Account ("Sperrkonto"):

  • You must open a bank account containing sufficient funds to cover your living expenses during your stay in Germany. Typically, around 11,208 EUR per year is required.

  • Provide a bank letter showing that the account has been opened and that sufficient funds are available.

Scholarship Award Letter:

  • If you have received a scholarship, provide an official letter detailing the scope and amount of the scholarship.

Sponsor Statement:

  • If a sponsor is providing financial support, submit an official statement from the sponsor and their financial documents, confirming they will cover your expenses.

Health Insurance Coverage:

  • You must provide health insurance that is valid in Germany and covers a minimum of 30,000 EUR.

  • Initially, temporary travel insurance may be accepted, but you will need to obtain student health insurance upon arrival in Germany.

Proof of Accommodation in Germany:

Rental Agreement:

  • Provide a copy of the rental agreement for the residence where you will be staying in Germany.

Dormitory Accommodation Confirmation:

  • If the educational institution is providing accommodation, obtain an official confirmation letter.

Previous Academic Records and Certificates:

  • Submit the originals and photocopies of transcripts, diplomas, and other academic documents from your previous educational institutions.

Language Proficiency Proof:

  • If the language of instruction is German or English, include proof of language proficiency.

Test Results:

  • Provide test results from standardized language tests like TestDaF, IELTS, or TOEFL for German or English proficiency.

Language Course Certificate:

  • You can also submit a certificate from a language course taken in the language of instruction.

Visa Application Fee Receipt:

  • Keep the receipt proving that you have paid the visa application fee. The fee amount will be determined by the embassy or consulate of the country to which you are applying.

Application Process:

Schedule an Appointment:

  • Visit the website of the German Embassy or Consulate to schedule an appointment for your visa application, or contact them directly.

Prepare Your Documents:

  • Gather all the required documents listed above, ensuring they are complete and accurate. Check your documents before the appointment to make sure nothing is missing.

Attend the Appointment:

  • Arrive on time and bring all the necessary documents with you.

Submit Biometric Data:

  • During your appointment, your biometric data (fingerprints and photo) will be collected. This data will be stored as part of your visa processing.

Wait for Visa Processing to Complete:

Receive Notification:

  • Once your visa is ready, you will receive a notification. This notification will typically include information on how to pick up your visa.
